A different way to solve the wall.

Wall-mounted wine storage had been getting progressively lighter for years. Traditional racks gave way to exposed wire supports, and eventually to minimalist pegs. Each was cleaner than the last.

None of them changed the underlying idea. Every bottle was still a separate mounting problem — two supports, repeated across the wall, however elegantly.

STACT founder Jamie Kasza saw the problem differently. If the wall itself carried a common structure, the support could stop being the rack and become a component of something larger. Solve the architecture, and everything else becomes configurable.

That insight is what STACT was built on, and it is what the patent portfolio protects.

One system became a platform.

It started with the bottle support, then expanded into the architecture around it. A proprietary track-and-panel system gave every panel a common structural foundation, with interconnecting wall brackets forming one continuous mounting structure rather than a series of independent supports.

Once the architecture existed, the possibilities weren't limited to storing bottles cork-out. The same system could hold bottles label-out, carry shelving, hang stemware, or extend as a finished surface. Different functions, one architecture.

Today that platform comes in two forms. STACT Pro is precision-machined entirely from anodized aluminum. STACT Premier pairs the same aluminum hardware with uninterrupted furniture-grade panels in genuine wood veneers and premium lacquered finishes, for cellars where the racking is part of the architecture.

Both offer the same five interchangeable panel types. Both let a wine room be composed rather than commissioned. The result is the freedom of a custom wine cellar without the complexity, lead time or permanence of custom-fabricated racking.

Jamie Kasza

Founder

An oenophile with an eye for design, Kasza identified the structural problem in conventional wine racking and developed the concept that became STACT's modular architecture. He is a named inventor on STACT's core utility patent families, and has led the system's development across more than a decade — through the original C-Type, the label-out architecture, STACT Pro and STACT Premier. He continues to direct STACT's product development and intellectual-property strategy from Vancouver.

The 2012 ICFF award-winning designer behind San Francisco's Pfeiffer Lab, Pfeiffer shaped the original STACT wine wall's elegant, minimalist form. His studio has brought hundreds of products to market for Google, Design Within Reach, Williams Sonoma, MoMA, Steelcase, OXO and Nest, and his work is held in permanent museum collections worldwide.
